Teresa ‘Teri’ L. Ward, age 67, of Kearney, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 at the Kearney eFree Church with Pastor Scott Schaefer officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., November 3rd, 2021, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. She was born in Belleville, KS on 12/29/53. Teri graduated from Wichita North HS. She was married for 49 years and 50 weeks to Jim Ward. Their 50th Wedding Anniversary would have been on 11/18/21. Family gatherings (mini-reunions) meant the world to Teri. She loved providing big meals for her family, including a yearly grandkids-only-invite, which called for a ride on the zip line. While most knew her as Teri or Mom, she most affectionately loved being called Meema by her Grandkids. She spent countless hours making 200+ quilts for all of her family & friends with Jim alongside. Another favorite pastime was watching all of God’s beautiful wildlife on their farm. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and had lots of beautiful flowers and trees in her yard. She was an avid reader of her Bible, Christian books and Biographies. She loved her husband, kids, and grandkids with all her might! Teri lived her life to the fullest – always putting others before herself; Mom fought the good fight, Meema finished the race. She is survived by her husband, Jim Ward (Kearney); her parents Albert and Barbara Chatfield (Lincoln), mother-in-law Mary Ward (Gothenburg), her daughter Jeni Wallgren and her husband Ty (Kearney), and son James Ward and his wife Heidi (Lincoln). Five grandchildren Zach Wallgren and his wife Cierra (Smith Center, KS), Brock Wallgren and his wife Kelli (Smith Center, KS), Jonah Coleman (Ft. Jackson, SC), Taytem Coleman (Gunnison, CO), and Ava Ward (Lincoln). One great-grandchild Emberleigh Wallgren (Smith Center, KS). Sister Connie Schaefer and her husband Scott (Winfield, KS), sister Ruthie Ostergard and her husband Doak (Gothenburg), brother-in-law Bill Ward and his wife Gayla (North Platte), sister-in-law Sherry Davis and her husband Norm (Gothenburg), and numerous nieces and nephews.
